THIERRY DE MEY
Thierry De Mey is a composer and film director. His work follows his intuition of movement, "refusing to conceive rythym as a simple combination of lengths of time within a temporal frame, but as a system that generates leaps and falls and new developments". A part of his production is intended for dance and cinema. For the choreographers A.T. De Keersmaeker, W. Vandekeybus, and M.A. De Mey, the issue is not composing, but working together on the invention of “formal strategies”.
An active educator, Thierry De Mey has headed the cursus de composition chorégraphique P.A.R.T.S. program in Brusselles since its establishment and, since 2005, has been a part of the artistic directors of Charleroi/Danses.
