Manifeste 2016

For over 30 years, Steven Schick has been the champion of contemporary percussion music, both for his work as a performer and as a teacher. Schick has commissioned and premiered over a hundred works for his family of instruments.

Appointed music professor at the Univserity of California, San Diego, he was a percussionist with Bang On A Can All-Stars in New York from 1992 to 2002 and artistic director for the Centre International de Percussion de Genève in Switzerland from 2000 to 2004. He founded ans is the artistic director of the percussion ensemble red fish blue fish. Since 2007, he has been the musical director and conductor of La Jolla Symphony and Chorus, and, since 2011, the artistic director of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players.
