SALVATORE SCIARRINO

While he considers himself a part of the avant-garde movment, Salvatore Sciarrino also considers himself a part of a historical continuity. His catalogue is a continual evolution towards an "ecology" of listening and sound. From the very beginning of his career, we talked about a "Sciarrino Sound". His music is intimate, concentrated, refined, build on the prinicples of microvariations of sound structures made up of sought-after timbres and breath. He organizes his works like an artist sketches a drawing, dimming sounds, blending colors, playing with light.

The voice plays a major role in his oeuvre, with experiments on vocal emission, or, more recently, writing focused on a melodic continuity associated with the psychology of the characters.
