JOHANNA ZIMMER

Johanna Zimmer began music with the piano, organ, and singing. In 2001, she studied music at the University of Stuttgart. In parallel, she studied singing with Ulrike Sonntag, and then with Renée Morloc (singing) and Marie Helle (performance). Zimmer has performed oratorios as a solo artist (Bach, Haendel, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Fauré), has a decided fluency in the contemporary repertoire (Lachenmann, Crumb, Nono), and has premiered works by Mike Svoboda, Bernd Asmus, and Jean-Pierre Leguay. She has had extensive stage experience with the Ensemble v.act (conducted by Angelika Luz), notabley in the theatrical project on Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

A member of the ensemble SWR Vocal of Stuttgart from 2011 to 2014, she joined the Neue Vocalsolisten in 2014.
