DONATIENNE MICHEL-DANSAC

Donatienne Michel-Dansac is a singer, which for her, is another way of talking. She does not sing, she speaks. When she sings, she speaks slower, of course, and when she speaks, she thinks she's singing: making music from a text. She thinks therefore. This is hard work and nobody sees that she is working.

Donatienne studied at the CNSMD de Paris where she was awarded the Prix de chant in 1990. Since 1993, a close collaboration with IRCAM enabled her to premiere numerous works by composers such as Philippe Manoury, Pascal Dusapin, Luca Francesconi, Fausto Romitelli, Mauro Lanza, Georges Aperghis, and Philippe Leroux. She also performes Baroque French, Italian, and German music in addition to the Romantic and Classical repertoires.
