BENOÎT DELBECQ

A disobedient inventive musician, Benoît Delbecq performs worldwide combining jazz with the prepared piano so dear to John Cage, while colluding with the electronic tools of today. He was one of the activists in the collectives Hask (1992-2004) and Astrolab (1994-1999). His music and projects include a large number of collaborations with theater, contemporary dance, literature, fine arts, and film. Benoît has performed worldwide in many of today's top festivals. He has published 37 recordings as a leader or co-leader with a catalogue that includes over 100 recordings. Since the mid-1990s, he has has been applauded by the critics, and his "multispeed" or "polyspeed" approach to his piano playing has now influenced a young generation of piano players.
