Manifeste 2016

Aureliano Cattaneo studied piano and composition at the conservatories in Plaisance and Milan, before studying under Gérard Grisey and Mauricio Sotelo. Despite his love for chamber music, he never neglected other genres such as voice for which he recently wrote important works such as his opera Le philosophe dans le labyrinthe (2005), his second collaboration with the poet Eduardo Sanguinetti after Minotaurus dreaming (2003), followed by parole di settembre (2013) set again to Sanguineti’s poems. Since 2008, he has become interested in orchestra, as seen in Violinkonzert (2008) and Selfportrait with orchestra (2010).

Since 2010, Aureliano has taught at the ESMUC (Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya) in Barcelona.
